2017 Ford SuperDuty

Never shy away from any job, no matter how large, when you have the 2017 Ford SuperDuty at your command. This heavy-duty truck is designed to be especially tough, plus it's loaded with features that help you get more done. At the same time, efficiency is boosted through several clever designs. Topping it all off is the incredibly comfortable cabin, including surprising luxuries included on the higher trim levels.

Thanks to a complete redesign for 2017, the SuperDuty has taken a dramatic departure from its previous design. It retains chiseled, modern looks, but adds a lighter and stronger structure for improved efficiency and capability. More onboard technologies are available, and the fuel tank sizes have been increased significantly for better range. You can still get the truck in several cab and bed configurations, plus numerous trims.

The standard engine is a solid 6.2-liter SOHC Flex Fuel V-8. It's rated at 385 horsepower and an amazing 430 lb.-ft. of torque. For the first time ever, Live-Drive Power Takeoff is available for this gasoline engine, so you don't have to go with diesel to gain that functionality.

Of course, you can select the mighty 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbo diesel. It lets you take on tremendous loads with a peak 440 horsepower and 925 lb.-ft. of torque. With the turbocharger located between the cylinder banks and the exhaust manifold positioned inboard, boost response is shockingly quick. And the engine block is made of graphite iron instead of cast iron, so it's lighter and yet stronger.

Both engines are mated to a heavy-duty 6-speed automatic transmission. Two-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel drive can be added to any version of the truck. Maximum payload rating is impressive at 7,630 pounds, so you can haul more. When it comes to conventional towing, the truck can handle up to 21,000 pounds. With a 5th wheel, the tow rating goes up to 27,500 pounds, and increases further to 32,500 pounds when outfitted with a gooseneck. To make hooking up a trailer easier, a reverse guidance system is available, providing drivers with a live video feed. In addition, the tire pressure monitoring system works not only for the truck, but also attached trailers.

Other designs make the 2017 Ford SuperDuty an exceptionally safe vehicle, so you don't need to worry. Six airbags, including side curtains, are included as standard equipment. You can upgrade with inflatable rear seatbelts, which deploy in a crash to reduce the risk of injury. An SOS post-crash alert system adds extra peace of mind. Proving this truck is built for truly rugged work, it features large four-wheel antilock disc brakes.

When you climb inside the SuperDuty, you'll be impressed with how modern the truck feels. Soft surfaces are in high supply, along with supportive seats, an easy-to-read gauge cluster and simple physical controls. The full-color infotainment screen also shows video feeds from the many cameras you can place on the truck, which can combine for a top-down view of immediate surroundings. Other upgrades include six upfitter switches, leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel, to name a few.
